Activities in brief	Strengthening the Self Help Groups (SHGs) for improved Livelihood HUM initiated with the aim of forming and strengthening SHGs among the tribal women in 50 villages in Hojai district and to initiate income generation programmes and in order to improve their socio economic status. More than 100 SHGs are formed and supported with trainings on income generation livelihood activities like, candle making, mushroom cultivation, tailoring, piggery and fishery etc, with the help of block and district rural development authorities. Emergency Relief: HUM has pledged to lead the relief and rehabilitation operation during the of natural calamities and other disasters. HUM has organized medical camps, distributed emergency food and cloth materials to the relief camps in the past seven years with the support of district authorities and Assam State Disaster management Authority. Vocational Training This programme is being implemented in Hojai District with the support of Functional Vocational Training and Research Society. The objective of this project is to help school dropout rural tribal boys and girls and widows to enhance their skills to earn their livelihood. Various programmes are running under this programme Computer Literacy Program: HUM has been imparting computer literacy program through “COMPUGYAN” Computer Education and Sevan Kendra in association with NIIT Foundation since its inception to the poor educated youths of the district and established its centre in its office premise. Alcoholism and substance (drugs) abuse: HUM has been working and creating awareness camps and conducted rallies in the district to prevent alcoholism and substance abuse and to prevent trafficking of it in the district with the help of district authorities of Assam. The organization is awarded by the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) and Nagaon District Administration as “District Level Youth Club Award” for the outstanding work done for the Youth and the Community.
